Mrs. Kim Chenier
Band Director, East Samford School

Mrs. Kim S. Chenier is a native of Crowley, Louisiana. As a music educator, Mrs. Chenier has spent the past 27 years teaching band, choir, and general music. The first seven years of her career were spent teaching beginner, intermediate, and advanced bands in grades 5-8. During that time, she served as an assistant director for the high school marching and concert bands.

After moving to Alabama and spending five years as a high school director in Lee County, Mrs. Chenier spent the next 12 years as the music teacher at Yarbrough Elementary. She is currently in her fourth year as band director at East Samford School. Mrs. Chenier earned her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Mississippi Valley State University and her Master of Music Education from Alabama State University. She holds memberships in the National Association of Music Educators, Alabama Music Educators Association, and the American Educators Association. She presently serves as a church musician and youth choir director at Bethel Baptist Church in Tuskegee, AL. Mrs. Chenier also currently serves as the Chairman of District VI of the Alabama Bandmasters Association.

Mrs. Chenier and her husband, Mitchell, are the proud parents of five children—Two college daughters—Synclare and Liz, a teenage daughter, Myana, and two sons—Mitchell Joseph, and Peter.
